Snag this QBForce desktop to get pumped for season's start

My good friend Clif Reeder once said it best that the only reason he keeps on taking photos is for making computer desktop background wallpapers. I totally agree with him. Often times, i catch myself taking a certain photo or composing shots in certain ways (wide, landscape) that lend to the possibility of making a new desktop image.

Recently, I’ve given a number of people my images of athletes or teams they’re fans of. This impressed upon me that a lot more people may be interested in some free wallpapers.

So, from now on, i’ll start posting free downloadable desktop wallpaper images whenever I create one for myself. They’ll be collected in the new “Freebies” section of my blog. Take them as they are, i’m sure most of you won’t care much about my choices. Feel free to send me requests though!

Yes, i’ve neglected this site for a while now. The assignments have been more than ever and free times are rare, though i will still put up those special unique content when and if they happen. Just been shooting a lot of “ordinary” NHL hockey and MLB baseball past few months. Hard to make unique images there, but thats certainly something i’ll need to improve on!

For now, look for a Detroit Red Wings season review post coming up after the Stanley Cup Finals.

Movement

A quick update on what’s been going on—in list format because i’m tired:

  • Just moved, hopefully for good for a while now that I’m settling down more and more firmly in Michigan. I realized out of all the placed I’d like to actually LIVE, (note this isn’t visit or to go for vacation), Michigan and Oregon are about it…
  • So, on tangent with the moving, thats why i haven’t done much of anything else. Its amazing how much time a house sucks up!
  • But, maybe I’ll figure out some interesting home-improvement/photo-related home design articles to blog about later…
  • Another recent development is I’ve started my annual Spring Training, basically where I gradually get back to the gym to work off the winter fat. New this time around though is I’ve managed to easily convince (con?) rising Michigan Daily photographer Said Alsalah to be my personal trainer.
  • Said is immensely knowledgable about the whole fitness and working out thing, so I’m pretty pumped and again we may see some blogging about this if we come up with anything interesting….maybe I’ll try my multimedia hand again.
  • Thats all for now.

First Tutorials set: How to Smartly Use PhotoMechanic

As an unofficial educator that works for a higher-ed institution, I feel the call of tutelage once in a while. So, starting today, i’ll amass on this site all the howtos, tips, and other tutorials on photography and computers i find or come up with myself. I’ll save permanent links to them in my “TUTORIALS” section tab at the top of the page. (Many of the tutorials will be flash videos, so please make sure your computer has the right plugins to play them.) Hope you can find something in these that’s useful!

To start, there’s my first tutorial:
