Vanity Fair recreates Hitchcock’s iconic scenes

I found out about this a month ago, but I just happened to get a copy of Vanity Fair’s January 2008 issue today featuring a fantastic photo series recreating iconic scenes from Alfred Hitchcock’s most famous classics, all with today’s hottest stars.

There’s a video online of some of the behind-the-scenes of photographer Norman Jean Roy’s shoots. And you can read the article about the project and the ridiculous extent they went in recreating some of the scenes.

It’s all just fascinating, and seems aptly appropriate the day after the Oscars.

My Stab at the Lunar Eclipse

So everybody was hootering and hollering about the full lunar eclipse this week, so when the time came by tonight, I begrudgingly bundled up and sat outside my garage for half an hour with a 300mm+1.4tc, all on a tripod. My roommate, who knew much more about astronomy, enlightened me that the very bright star-like object to the left of the Moon was actually Saturn…

Picture’s nothing exciting, as lunar eclipses, even if full, never get as picturesque as a crowning solar eclipse.
